local obsession: botegga louie

PHOTOS TAKEN FROM MY IPHONE

It's time for another local obsession! Well, semi-local.. branching outside of OC as I consider LA local, it's still Southern Cali! ;) Remember when I blogged about the FIDM Alumni workshop for 'Blogging Basics' and I made friends with a sweet gal, Monika? Well, we finally grabbed dinner together after trying to get our hectic schedules to match! What better way to spend dinner than over a box of macarons and fine Italian cuisine at the one and only, Botegga Louie located in the heart of DTLA! I'm the ultimate macaron queen... and Botegga Louie has been on my list for the longest time before I had even moved down! Finally, at last.. we meet. I was like a little girl mesmerized by the pretty pastels and mouth-watering desserts! Monika wouldn't stop laughing at me for buying my box of macarons before we got seated for dinner. I just couldn't wait! I see it, I want it, I eat it.. haha. The ambiance of the venue was just amazing. You walk in to a colorful and pretty dessert showcase and rows filled with any type of macaron you can name. They also carried cakes, chocolate bars, and other tasty desserts, but come on.. you can't pass on the macarons when you come here. I was surprised the dining area didn't quite match the main entrance as the walls were painted white and one massive floral shaped heart hung in the center. I suppose the clean, traditional walls let the colorful front do the talking... what can I say? I pay great attention to every little detail, and that includes white walls! Can't blame me, I have designer eyes. The bread was uniquely shaped and quite interesting! I tried the Clam Linguini served with white wine, shallots, gatlic, Italian parsley, red pepper flakes, olive oil, cracked pepper, and fleur de sel. Yes, it's just as good as it sounds! To top our Botegga Louie experience, we finished off with the Le Grand Macaron which was similar to an ice cream sandwich, but it was two large vanilla macarons on each ends filled with French vanilla ice cream and seasonal berries! It was tasty I must admit.. it was the perfect size for the both of us and left us satisfied little happy campers... with our box of macarons in our hands. :) I'm so obsessed with this place, I'd love to come here one morning for breakfast if I ever wake up early enough to make the drive. The service and staff was excellent, I even gave one of the staff members a little suggestion when taking orders for macarons... to have the customers write them on a piece of paper rather than waiting for the customer to make up their mind among the variety of flavors they offered. I did it myself, handed it to the gentleman, and he took it up to the mains as an idea moving forward, just to make their lives a little easier. ;) Hope I get weekly complimentary macarons for that! I'm kidding, or not. Botegga Louie, I dearly hold you close to my heart. Thank you for an amazing experience! <3

designer file: alexander wang

MIDDLE PHOTO TAKEN FROM MY IPHONE AND OTHER RE-EDITED

We all have our #1 favorite designers we hold close to our hearts... mine is Alexander Wang. He's just... amazing. Thank God he exists. Haha. And not to say, he was born and raised in SF, yeaaah! He completely introduced a new look of "model-off-duty" to the fashion world, and just may have to be the coolest guy in Manhattan! (Mr. Wang, hire me.. *wink). I scored one of Wang's ribbed zipper tanks yesterday in black (current image shows grey, also to die for) from his T collection and man, I can't wait until this weather gets it's act together to bring us some sunshine! If you know me well enough, I used to collect zipper anything.. bracelets, rings, embellishments... it's a slight fetish. Alexander Wang + Zipper = Oh Yes!

week at a glance..

PHOTOS TAKEN FROM MY IPHONE

I'm a week overdue with updates from last week/end's trip to Norcal. It felt so good to be back home with the family though it was a quick one. I flew up Saturday morning to find my mom and dad waiting out front of the airport with my puppies barking and trying to run out of my Mother's arms to get to the back seat as soon as I hopped in. Yes, that's my babies up there! Gucci to the left with fur as white as snow and Chanel aka "Coco" to the right, with the cute button nose! Of course, my Mother named them, and their names match their personalities perfectly! They're my heart, my love, my babies! Talking about them just makes me miss them more. (sniffles). After they scooped me up, my mom and I went to get manicures and pedicures, just like the good 'ol days! We arrived home to my dad's home cooked meal and my favorite Filipino cuisine! How I've missed coming home to the smell of my dad's cooking! I do have to say, growing up, my dad has never left us starving! That says a lot. ;) I had more food than I should've had.. I just wanted to make sure I stuffed enough, haha. Sunday morning, my family and I went to church and went to celebrate my mom's birthday at Carlos Santana's restaurant, Maria Maria, in Danville! Great food, great service! It was nice gathering my parents, sisters, and brother-in-law around the table laughing and teasing each other as always. I missed my sissys! Despite all of our differences in the past of sisterly-fighting-kind-of-love, being apart really does make bring us closer. Afterwards, we headed back to church where my dad was taking part of the Courageous Men ceremony. If you've seen the movie, Courageous, you'll what how this goes. ;) I was so proud of him, so proud to be there to witness his commitment and love for God. It brought me to tears to see all the Father's making the same commitment. It was beautiful! I'm extremely blessed and thankful to have a God-loving family and parents that set the perfect example of how we should be living life... serving God. <3

color crush: neutrals & neons

Top: Madewell: Striped Tank in Lime Rickey, Purse: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Shoes: Unknown, Necklace: Marni

I can no longer hold in this crush with neutrals and neons this season, it's driving me nuts! Last week, I scored on a stripe tank from Madewell for $29! The last one in my size, it was fate. I loved the variation of stripes going in different directions than your traditional stripe tank. Super comfy, and pairs nicely with my denim jacket with rolled up sleeves and neon accessories! Obsessed!
